Celebrating 53 Years of Unity and Progress: A Tribute to the UAE’s Vision and Spirit
The United Arab Emirates stands as a beacon of unity, resilience, and prosperity, embodying a shared vision for a brighter future for both Emiratis and expatriates. This incredible nation, home to people from every corner of the globe, exemplifies the true meaning of inclusion and progress. As a Filipino expatriate who has witnessed firsthand the UAE’s remarkable growth, I write with deep gratitude and respect for the country’s leaders and its people.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai
Under the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the nation has achieved unparalleled heights. Their unwavering commitment to innovation, tolerance, and sustainability has transformed the UAE into a global hub for opportunity. From the dynamic private sector to the robust government institutions, every aspect of life in the UAE reflects a commitment to excellence.
As an entrepreneur, I am inspired by the UAE’s support for businesses and its focus on empowering all nationalities. The country’s progress is not limited to a select group—it extends to everyone who calls the UAE home. Emiratis and expatriates alike thrive in this environment of mutual respect and opportunity, fostering a spirit of collaboration that transcends cultural boundaries.
This week, we commemorate two significant occasions that embody the UAE’s values: Commemoration Day and National Day on December 2.
Commemoration Day: Honoring the Heroes
Commemoration Day, also known as Martyrs’ Day, holds deep significance as a day of remembrance for those who gave their lives in service to the nation. Introduced in 2015 by the late President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this day reminds us of the sacrifices that have safeguarded the UAE’s sovereignty and prosperity.
Each year, at 11:00 AM, the country observes a moment of silence, and flags are lowered to half-mast in tribute to the martyrs. At 11:01 AM, the national anthem “Ishy Bilady” is sung in unity, reaffirming our commitment to honor their legacy. This solemn occasion also coincides with the passing of Salim Suhail bin Khamis Al Dahmani in 1971, a poignant reminder of the courage and sacrifice that shaped the UAE’s foundation.
National Day: Celebrating Unity and Progress
On December 2, the UAE celebrates its 53rd National Day, marking over five decades of unity, resilience, and remarkable achievements. Known as Eid Al Etihad, this day reflects the unwavering determination of the nation’s founding fathers, led by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to build a country rooted in tolerance, innovation, and excellence.
From the breathtaking skyline of Dubai to the cultural landmarks of Abu Dhabi, every corner of the UAE reflects the nation’s commitment to progress. The National Day serves as an occasion for residents to come together and reflect on the UAE’s journey, celebrating its triumphs and looking forward to a future filled with endless possibilities.
Gratitude and Hope
On behalf of myself and countless expatriates who have found opportunity and belonging in the UAE, I extend heartfelt gratitude to the country’s leaders for their visionary governance and unwavering compassion. Their tireless efforts have created a land where people of all nations can thrive together in harmony.
The UAE is not just a country—it is a symbol of hope, unity, and boundless ambition.
As we honor its past, celebrate its present, and look toward its future, let us continue to stand united, working hand in hand to build on this extraordinary legacy.
Yours truly,
